During the Medieval Festival at Fort Tryon Park: Manhattan, NY, September 28, 2008. An illustrator by the name of Mike Logsdon approached my friends Denis, Eszter, and I. He introduced himself and briefly brushed upon that who he is, what he does, and that he would like us to pose for him sometime as models for some medieval-themed project he will be working on. Based on our looks and vibes he assured us we would fit perfectly.
Months passes and just a few days ago Denis calls me and says something along the lines of: "Max, I have great news. That illustrator just called me and asked when we could meet up with him for the photo shoot." The next day I got even more detailed info: the theme would be Romeo and Juliet, Mike the illustrator would like to take concept photos of us posing in different roles/scenes of Romeo and Juliet and then based on select photos he will make his paintings. Who will play what role wasn't so clear yet, or maybe Denis didn't convey to me the message clearly enough, but we all in general prepared a wide arsenal of props, accessories, and attire for the occasion. The date was scheduled, 11-9-08, and the location none other than our friend Mark's house.
We met up at 1PM that day and began in Mark's backyard. Conveniently it worked out nice that Mark had a pool deck and porch; we used it as the balcony for Eszter as Juliet to stand on and look down at Denis, playing Romeo, as he courts her. I didn't have such big roles but I did have 2 roles. I played Paris, as Mike took shots of Paris and Romeo dueling as in the scene in the Capulet Tomb and also I played Friar Lawrence as he weds Romeo and Juliet in secret. The final products aren't done yet of course, as an artist does need to take his time. As the progress comes along I hope to share some of the finished products with you, my DA friends
